The Monroe County Jail is a minimum security facility located in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, with a capacity of 25 inmates. The county jail houses both male and female offenders who have been arrested and charged with either misdemeanor or felony offenses. All inmates being held at the county jail are either serving their sentences, awaiting trial, cannot afford bond, or do not have a bond set. The County Jail provides programs intended to reduce the occurrence of re-incarceration. The current jailer is Elmer Fox.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive mail from their friends and family while incarcerated. All incoming mail must be addressed with the Inmate name and Inmate ID and have a return address on the envelope. All incoming mail must be in the form of a letter or postcard. All mail is opened and inspected for contraband. If contraband is found, the mail will be destroyed.

Visitation Hours

Inmates have the right to visit with their friends and family while incarcerated. Inmates are entitled to 2 visits per week. All visitors must present a valid photo identification card. Copies of records can be requested using the record request form provided by the Clerk. The form is available for download. A detailed description of the record being requested and the requester’s contact information is needed. Land and legal records can also be viewed online.
