The Muhlenberg County Jail is a minimum security facility located in Greenville, Kentucky. The county jail houses both male and female offenders who have been arrested and charged with either misdemeanor or felony offenses. All inmates being held at the county jail are either serving their sentences, awaiting trial, cannot afford bond, or do not have a bond set. The capacity in the facility is 281. The mission of the County Jail is to ensure the safety, security and orderly operation of the jail. The County Jail provides programs intended to reduce the occurrence of re-incarceration. How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates have the right to receive mail from friends and family while incarcerated. All incoming mail must be addressed with the Inmate name and Inmate ID. All incoming mail must have a return address on the envelope. All incoming mail must be letter size or postcard size, no thicker than light card stock, and must be able to be fed through a sheet fed scanner. All incoming mail is opened, inspected and read to determine if contraband is enclosed or any violation of prison rules has occurred. If violations are found, mail will be destroyed and not returned.

Commissary is received on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. They are delivered on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.Money for the inmate can be left at the department in the Jail lobby from 7:00 am to 2:45 pm Monday through Saturday.

Visitation Hours

Visitation is by appointment only and you must be on the inmates visitation list. Only 2 adults per visit, anyone 17 or older is considered an adult. No personal items are allowed in the facility, including cell phones. Visitation hours are as follows:

Females visitation hours are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays at 1:30 pm and 2 pm
Male visitation hours are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays at 8:30am, 9:00am, 9:30am, 10:00am, 10:30am & 12:30pm, 1:00pm

The sheriff for Muhlenberg County is William Ward. Prior to being appointed Sheriff, William served as a Deputy Sheriff, Narcotic Detective assigned to Narcotics Task Force, K-9 Officer, and 2nd shift Sergeant before being promoted to Lieutenant 2nd in command to the late Sheriff Ricki Allen at the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office.
