The Powell County Jail is a minimum security facility located in Pikeville, Kentucky. The county jail houses both male and female offenders who have been arrested and charged with either misdemeanor or felony offenses. All inmates being held at the county jail are either serving their sentences, awaiting trial, cannot afford bond, or do not have a bond set. The current jailer is Teddy Ray Lacy.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive mail from their friends and family while incarcerated. All incoming mail must be addressed with the Inmate name and Inmate ID and have a return address on the envelope. All incoming mail must be in the form of a letter or postcard. All mail is opened and inspected for contraband. If contraband is found, the mail will be destroyed.

Visitation Hours

Inmates have the right to visit with their friends and family while incarcerated. Inmates are entitled to 2 visits per week. All visitors must present a valid photo identification card. Visitation appointments must be scheduled by calling the jail at 606-663-6400, between 8am and 9am only on visitation mornings. Visitation hours are as follows:

Female Visitation: 9:00 a.m.to 11 a.m. only on Thursday’s and Saturday’s
Male Visitation: 1:00 p.m.to 4:00p.m. only on Thursday’s and Saturday’s

The Powell County Jail has an inmate jail roster available for the public to view. The roster lists all current inmates housed in the jail. Inmates can be searched by their first and last name. The jail roster lists the inmate’s full name, birth date, booking date, arresting agency, bond amount, and charges they were arrested for.

Powell from parts of Clark, Estill, and Montgomery counties. The county covers a total of 180 square miles. According to the latest census, the population was approximately 13,000.
