The Taylor County Jail is a medium security facility located in Campbellsville, Kentucky. The county jail houses both male and female offenders, either county, state, or federal inmates, who have been arrested and charged with either misdemeanor or felony offenses. All inmates being held at the county jail are either serving their sentences, awaiting trial, cannot afford bond, or do not have a bond set. The county jail’s mission is to ensure all employees are Knowledgeable of the baseline standards and are adequately trained to carry out their duties in accordance with standards. The county jail’s duty is to house incarcerated offenders in a manner that protects the public and institutional safety while providing a legal standard of care and to provide programs intended to reduce the likelihood of re-incarceration. The county jail complies with the Kentucky Jail Standards to ensure full compliance. The current jailer, who oversees the entire operations of the jail is Hack Marcum.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive mail from their friends and family while incarcerated. All incoming mail must be addressed with the Inmate name and Inmate ID and have a return address on the envelope. All incoming mail must be in the form of a letter, and there is a maximum of 3 pages per envelope. Photographs must be 4”x6” and inmates can only have a maximum of 10 photos in their cell. All mail is opened and inspected for contraband. If contraband is found, the mail will be destroyed.

Friends and family can add money to an inmate’s commissary account online. The website to visit to add funds is TaylorDeposits. Money orders can also be used for an inmate’s commissary account. Money in the form of a money order must be made out to: TCDC/Inmate Name. Money orders can be taken at the window inside the lobby of the county jail from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. To deposit a money order after hours, use the box outside the lobby of the county jail. Commissary items, such as hygiene and food products, may be ordered between Friday at 5:00 pm and Tuesday at 9:00 am. Orders are passed on Wednesday. In-house items or “extras” may be ordered from Tuesday through Friday and will be passed as time allows.

Visitation Hours

Inmates have the right to visit with their friends and family while incarcerated.Visitation is by appointment only. Visitation is conducted on Thursdays and Saturdays. Visits last for 30 minutes. Appointments can be made by calling 270-789-1909. Inmates are allowed one visit per week, either on Thursday or Saturday, but not both. Two adults and two children per inmate may enter the visitation area. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adult visitors should be prepared to show photo ID.

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office is the chief law enforcement agency located in the county. The Sheriff’s Office is primarily responsible for serving the courts, and the secondary responsibility is law enforcement. The Sheriff’s Office is also responsible for providing security to District and Circuit courts as well as Grand Jury’s, inmate transportation to and from court, conducting vehicle inspections, and processing applications for concealed carry licenses. Kentucky law mandates that the Sheriff’s Office collect property taxes and distribute the appropriate amounts to each taxing district. The current Sheriff is Dickie Benningfield.
