Individuals who are arrested in Monticello are transported to the Wayne County Jail. The Wayne County Jail is a minimum security facility located in Monticello, Kentucky. The county jail houses both male and female offenders who have been arrested and charged with either misdemeanor or felony offenses. Inmates in the County Jail can be from the county or statewide. The Wayne County Jail can house up to 180 inmates at a time. The jail has 26 employees, not including the jailer, Mr. Ronnie Ellis.

Inmates in the County Jail are allowed to visit with their friends and family once a week for a total of 30 minutes. All visits must be scheduled in advance. To schedule a visit call 606-348-6781 ext. 24. Visits can be scheduled Monday through Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm and the visit must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Weekend visits and Monday visits must be scheduled by 4:00pm on the Friday before. Male inmates have visitation on Tuesday and Friday from 9am to 11am and from 1pm to 4pm and Sunday from 9am to 11am and from 1pm to 3pm. Females have visitation on Thursday from 9am to 11am and from 1pm to 4pm and Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 5pm.
