The Barren County Jail is a detention center located in Glasgow, Kentucky. The jail houses both male and female inmates who have been arrested and charged with either misdemeanor or felony charges. Inmates are awaiting trial, serving sentences, or do not have or cannot afford a bond. The jail offers GED classes, AA and NA meetings, religious services and moral recognitive therapy to the inmates. The detention center employs 3 captains, 9 deputies, and 4 lieutenants. The current jailer is Aaron Shirley.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive letters and postcards from their loved ones while incarcerated. Mail can be sent to the inmate using their full name and the booking number, which can be obtained by contacting the jail. Inmates can also have property dropped off at the physical location.

Inmates are allowed to receive money for commissary items. Commissary money can be deposited online using a 3rd party provider named Jail Funds. There is a website or a kiosk located inside the lobby of the jail. There is a $3.95 flat rate charge for cash deposits and a $3.95 plus 5% for credit card deposits. Inmates can also receive money orders through the postal service. Money orders must be made out to the following:

Visitation Hours

Inmates are allowed both video and onsite visitations. Onsite visitations are limited to two 20 minute visits a week and must be scheduled in advance. Visitation hours are Monday through Wednesday and Friday and Saturday from 8am to 11am and from noon to 4pm, and Thursdays from 8am to 11am, noon to 4pm, and 5pm to 7pm.

Inmates can have unlimited video visits using a 3rd party provider, Securus. An account is needed and the visitor will have to submit a photo and government issued ID for approval. Once the visitor is approved, visits can be scheduled online.

The jail provides a roster that lists all current inmates. The public can search for a person using their first and last name. The date the inmate was booked, their current charges, and a mugshot is made viewable.
