Visitation Hours
Inmates in the County Jail are allowed to visit with their friends and family. Visits can be scheduled by calling the jail at 606-549-6013. All visitors are subject to being searched and must have a government issued ID card.
The County Jail has an inmate jail roster available for the public to view. The roster lists all current inmates housed in the jail. Inmates can be searched by their first and last name. The jail roster lists the inmate’s full name, birth date, booking date, arresting agency, bond amount, and charges they were arrested for.

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Office is the chief law enforcement agency located in the county. The office is mainly responsible for patrolling the county, preventing crime, and collecting county taxes. The office also makes crash reports, conducts vehicle inspections, and serves civil papers. The office employs 3 essential staff members with more authority than the deputies: Chief Deputy Clyde Dingess, Lieutenant Wayne Bird, and Sheriff William ‘Bill’ Elliotte.

Whitley County is nestled in the southeastern region of the state of Kentucky. The county was created in 1860, using land from Henderson, Hopkins, and Union counties. The county was first discovered in 1772. The county covers a total of 445 square miles. According to the latest census, the population of the county is roughly 37,000. Whitley County is included in the London, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area. The largest city is Corbin, Kentucky but the county seat is Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Whitley County Public Records Information
Public records for Whitley County are made available through the Whitley County Clerk. The office uses an online database called eCCLIX. The database includes access to Deeds, mortgages, mechanic liens, orders, fixture filings, articles of incorporation – 1985 to present, wills – 1925 to present, and leases – 1949 to present. For all other records, a records request can be made and delivered to the county clerk. The office provides a generic form that must be used. Fees for any open records requests must be paid in advance before copies can be obtained. Copies of records cost fifty cents per page. The request must be given to the county clerk. The office has 5 business days to respond to the request.
