The Letcher County Jail is a medium security facility located in Whitesburg, Kentucky. The jail houses female and male inmates, who are county, state, or federally incarcerated. All inmates are serving sentences less than one year, awaiting trial, or cannot bond out. The jail offers inmates rehabilitation programs, to help integrate them back into society. These programs include drug counseling, GED classes, and workmanship classes. The current jailer is Bert Slone.

How to Send Mail or Package
Mail can be sent to inmates being held at the county jail. All incoming mail must be addressed with the inmate name and inmate ID number. A return address must be present on the envelope. Corrections officers inspect every letter coming into the county jail for contraband. If contraband is found, it will be either returned to the sender or handed over to the local authorities for an investigation.
