Visitation Hours
Inmates have the right to visit with their friends and family while incarcerated. Inmates are entitled to 2 visits per week. All visitors must present a valid photo identification card. Visitation hours are subject to change. Contact the jail at (859) 498-8747 for current visitation hours and to schedule an appointment.
The Montgomery County Jail has an inmate jail roster available for the public to view. The roster lists all current inmates housed in the jail. Inmates can be searched by their first and last name. The jail roster lists the inmate’s full name, birth date, booking date, arresting agency, bond amount, and charges they were arrested for.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has a most wanted list on their website. Names and photographs of the wanted persons are listed. Montgomery County Sheriff Information
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is the highest division of law enforcement in the county. Deputies patrol the roadway 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Other services offered by the office include: civil processing, serving subpoenas, performing vehicle inspections, collecting taxes for the county, filing collision and offense reports, investigating crimes-particularly narcotics crimes, and overseeing the Citizens Police Academy. The current Sheriff is David Charles. The office also employs one lieutenant, 2 sergeants, a detective, 9 deputies, and multiple office personnel.

Montgomery County is located in the northeastern region of the state of Kentucky. Montgomery County was established in 1796 from land given by Clark County. Montgomery was the 22nd Kentucky county in order of formation. The county covers a total of 199 square miles. According to the latest census, the population was approximately 28,000. Montgomery County is part of the Mount Sterling, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Lexington-Fayette-Richmond-Frankfort, KY Combined Statistical Area. The largest city and the county seat is Mount Sterling.

A detailed description of the record being requested and the requester’s contact information is needed. Once the request is received, the office has 5 business days to respond to the requester.
