Elliott County does not operate its own jail and has an agreement with Carter County. The Carter County Detention Center is a minimum security facility located in Grayson, Kentucky. The facility houses both female and male inmates who have been arrested on misdemeanor or felony charges and are awaiting trial. It also houses convicted inmates serving 12 months or less in jail. It also houses some inmates from the Kentucky Department of Corrections. Inmates have access to educational programs and addiction programs. R.W. Boggs is the Jailer.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates can receive letters from their friends and family while in jail. Any incoming mail will be inspected for contraband. Mail should be addressed to the inmate and must include their ID number. If you do not know the ID number, please contact the jail.
