The Wayne County Jail is a minimum security facility located in Monticello, Kentucky. The county jail houses both male and female offenders who have been arrested and charged with either misdemeanor or felony offenses. Inmates in the County Jail can be from the county or statewide. The Wayne County Jail can house up to 180 inmates at a time. The jail has 26 employees, not including the jailer, Mr. Ronnie Ellis.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates have the right to receive mail from friends and family while incarcerated. Letters, greeting cards with no sparkles, glitter or glitter pens, stickers, or unidentifiable substance, and up to 5 photos. The letters and addresses on the envelope must be hand-written in either black or blue ink. The letter must include a return address with the sender’s full name. Family and friends can add money to an inmate’s commissary account in person Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm. If dropping off money in person, the County Jail only accepts cash or money orders. Money can also be added after hours by using the kiosk in the County Jail lobby. The kiosk is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The easiest and most accessible way to add funds is by using the website JailFunds.

Visitation Hours

Inmates in the County Jail are allowed to visit with their friends and family once a week for a total of 30 minutes. All visits must be scheduled in advance. To schedule a visit call 606-348-6781 ext. 24. Visits can be scheduled Monday through Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm and the visit must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Weekend visits and Monday visits must be scheduled by 4:00pm on the Friday before. Male inmates have visitation on Tuesday and Friday from 9am to 11am and from 1pm to 4pm and Sunday from 9am to 11am and from 1pm to 3pm. Females have visitation on Thursday from 9am to 11am and from 1pm to 4pm and Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 5pm.

The County Jail has an inmate jail roster available for the public to view. The roster lists all current inmates housed in the jail. Inmates can be searched by their first and last name. The jail roster lists the inmate’s full name, birth date, booking date, arresting agency, bond amount, and charges they were arrested for.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is the chief law enforcement agency located in the county. The office is responsible for patrolling the county, making arrests, and preventing crime. The office also completes traffic accident reports, processes concealed carry paperwork, collects county taxes, and performs vehicle inspections. The Sheriff is Tim Catron.
